BLAZER version 1.1 is slicker, faster, and otherwise better than version 1.0 (which was already cool)! This document discusses the new features/needs of BLAZER¬ v1.1. For general game information and troubleshooting refer to the User╒s Manual.
*** IMPORTANT ***
BLAZER¬ v1.1 requires that Apple╒s InputSprockets and DrawSprockets be installed on your computer. These are part of a larger package known as Apple╒s GameSprockets. If you have a new computer, it is likely that you already have this software installed. If you need the software, you can download it from Apple╒s site by double clicking on one of the ╥Get GameSprockets╙ files in the included ╥Get GameSprockets╙ folder. The use of Apple╒s GameSprockets adds lots of cool features to BLAZER¬, as seen below.
What╒s New In BLAZER¬ version 1.1?
Support for Apple InputSprockets:
BLAZER¬ v1.1 can handle inputs in exactly the same way as version 1.0, so if that works for you, use it. If, however, you wish to use a joystick or other input device that is not supported by the default input system, then you can enable the InputSprockets. You may also wish to use input sprockets because, depending on the input device, it may give you more control over such features as calibration and sensitivity. To enable InputSprockets, simply click on the ╥Use Input Sprockets╙ check box in the preferences, and click on the ╥Configure InputSprockets╙ button to configure your devices. Keyboard inputs are always handled by the default input system (without InputSprockets).
Support for Apple╒s DrawSprockets:
BLAZER¬ v1.1 uses Apple╒s DrawSprockets to switch monitor resolutions, copy direct-to-screen, and fade in and out. DrawSprockets is very well optimized for the PowerPC, which allows for significantly better performance than BLAZER¬ v1.0.
No More Change Resolution/Colors Warring:
BLAZER¬ v1.0 would ask if you wanted to change colors, and would complain if you were not running at 640x480, but couldn╒t do anything about it. This has gone away in version 1.1 because DrawSprockets takes care of all of that.
Bug Fixes Include:
Ñ No more annoying texture ╥blip╙ when you start a new level
Ñ Fixed a bug that, under rare circumstances, could make the final boss a no-show.
Ñ BLAZER¬ no longer responds to inputs while it is running in the background. In fact, you can╒t even see it, when it╒s in the background.
Ñ The credits will not start to roll if BLAZER¬ is running in the background.
